Interesting article on how putting a baby picture in your wallet significantly increases your chances of getting your lost wallet returned. They tested baby, puppy, family, elderly couple, a charity card and control. (It came out in that order with baby more than 30% higher than puppy)

Not a bad idea... Now who has a cute baby that I can get a picture of? Hmm.... ;)

Here's a link that a friend sent over titled, "How Californians See America"
Maybe the only things I'd change is add Cornell somewhere in the NE along with mention of all the good restaurants in NYC.
That and I think Cali should be a diff color than the rest of the north... :)

Photo Montage (1st month in Singapore)

Little snippets of my life in Singapore

The Looks

Views from my window...

The People

Meetings with the family, friends and coworkers...

With cousin Michelle and her daughter Keira after dinner at VivoCity. It's also the day I had my hair done again! If it looks a little too flat it's because I hadn't washed it yet.
Rossze and Jen with Morton's martinis. Rossze is the colleague who's a Berkeley alum who is my resident food guide here on the island. And yes I came all the way to Singapore to go to Morton's Steakhouse but I'm told they serve a good happy hour. "Cheap" martinis - at $12 a pop - and free steak sandwiches!
Jags (a colleague) having dinner at Clarke Quay with a view of the SG river.

The Life

Merlion
(aka yu wei shi in pin yin)

What? The symbol of Singapore
Where? Spotted in the Raffles area
How? On the way to the Esplanade
When? Stumbling across the bridge between Morton's and next stop with unlimited shots. It was a looooong night....

GSS
(aka the Great Singapore Sale)
What? Massive display of shoes and bags which would sadly not fit in my closet.
Where? Spotted on Orchard Road. What a way to get another usage out of a bus stop.
How? How will they find giants to fill those shoes??
When? While out shopping with my aunt

The t-shirt message reads: "Wear a mask if you are coughing or hace a cold. Please see a doctor and rest at home too!"
The delights of Singaporean public messages.
They must have used an apron to make that mask!

This morning I approached a set of double doors in the 2nd floor of my apartment building. I saw someone coming from the other side and decided to open the right one for me to go through since she could use the right side for herself. But no, the lazy chica goes and marches through my side like I'm her doorman! Seriously?! Okay, maybe it's just me that finds that just plain rude but c'mon lady.

Anyways, I booked my flight to Australia. I'll be heading out to Singapore - Sydney - Brisbane - Cairns - Sydney - Singapore at the end of Nov. Now the next order of business is to figure out where I will go between now and then. Choices, choices... I've got Penang booked at the end of July but that's to visit the fam. A Cornell friend is coming to visit in mid July too. Since I'll be back in Cali in mid-Aug and will have visitors in mid Sept and maybe early Oct, timing is looking slim but I've got to fit a few tours in while I still can....

On side note, have eaten rojak, hor fun and mee goreng so far. Altho the last one was from the work canteen so does that really count?
